CHRISTMAS VALLEY

NOVEMBER 2002

On the way back to "civilization" we stopped and explored Crack In The Ground.

Crack In The Ground
This two-mile-long basalt slot is ten to 70 feet deep. Often, it's so narrow that boulders bridge it. Patches of ice and snow from winter survive in the crack's cool depths year round.

After the Crack, we headed "cross country" towards Bend. Arrived well after dark.

We got cold and dirty but no one got grumpy .

I had a great time and want to see more of central Oregon..
